Project Spotlight: Ditmas Park Passive Home Renovation 📍Brooklyn, New York 🏡 H&Z Engineering provided full structural engineering services for a major renovation and expansion of a residential home in Brooklyn. Scope highlights: 🔹 Complete structural reframing for a new interior layout 🔹 Rear horizontal addition utilizing wood & steel framing 🔹 New reinforced concrete foundation system for new extension 🔹 Underpinning & SOE design to modify existing foundation for proposed needs This project required careful coordination of old and new structural systems, a full re-evaluation of load paths, and tailored foundation solutions to support the expanded footprint. 📸 The “AFTER” images shown are a rendering of the final intended design put together by the architect. Working closely with the architect and GC, our team ensured seamless communication and fast turnaround throughout the design phase.
